The invention concerns a motor vehicle with a gearbox (1) which can be operated optionally in the semi-automatic or fully automatic mode and which is fitted with a gear-range selector (18) and a gear-shift control (21). The gear-range selector enables a gear range to be pre-selected in which the gearbox (1) is stepped up or down by operating the gear-shift control (21). So that both the driver's hands can stay on the steering wheel while these gear-shift operations are being carried out, permitting the driver to concentrate on the traffic, the gear-shift control (21) is designed as a foot switch (22, 24) fitted in the vicinity of the driver's feet.
