DISHWASHING COMPOSITIONS
1387315 Dishwashing detergents containing sucrose COLGATE-PALMOLIVE CO 6 April 1972 [12 April 1971] 15969/72 Heading C5D A water-soluble alkaline dishwasher detergent composition comprises (A) at least one watersoluble organic and/or inorganic builder salt, (B) 1 to 20% by wt. of sucrose, (C) 0À5 to 5À0% by wt. of a bleaching agent capable of releasing hypohalite in an aqueous medium. Bleaching agents (C) may be (1) inorganic, e.g. lithium hypochlorite and lithium hypobromite, brominated and chlorinated trisodium phosphate, calcium hypochlorite and calcium hypobromite; (2) organic e.g. N-bromo- and N-chloro-imides, e.g. di-bromo-, di-chloro-, tri-bromo- and trichloro-cyanuric acids or a salt thereof; N- brominated and N-chlorinated succinimide; hydantoins, e.g. 1,3-dichloro-5,5-dimethyl hydantoin; tribromomelamine; and compounds liberating both chlorine and bromine. 0À5 to 5% of an anionic, non-ionic, cationic or amphoteric detergent (D) may be present; a low foaming nonionic surfactant being preferred. The non- ionic surfactant may be an ethylene oxide propylene oxide condensate; an ethylene oxide condensate with a C 8 -C 22 alcohol, alkyl phenol, C 8 -C 22 fatty acid or amide, alkyl mercaptan or thioalcohol; a C 8 -C 22 fatty alcohol monoester of hexahydric alcohols. Optional ingredients are (E) overglaze inhibiting agent, e.g. aluminium acetate, alkali metal aluminates, zincates and berylliates, boric oxide and boric anhydride; (F) conventional adjuvants. For bottle washing, alkali metal hydroxides are added to a pH of 12.
