LUBRICANT FOR MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM, MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM, AND MAGNETIC RECORDING APPARATUS
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a lubricant which prevents the discharge breakdown of a head element of a hard disk apparatus of a floating or contact type using a medium comprising a nonconductive substrate (e.g. glass) by compounding a perfluoropolyether compd. with a specified amt. of a compd. having a higher electrical conductivity. SOLUTION: A perfluoropolyether compd. is compounded with 0.1-99.9 wt.% compd. having electrical conductivity higher than the perfluoropolyether compd. Examples of such a compd. are ones having backbones represented by formula I, formula II (wherein R1 and R2 are each H, OH, a halogen, sulfo, carboxyl, nitro, amino, alkyl, or aryl; and R3 is an alkyl or aryl), and formula III [wherein R1 to R4 are each H, OH, a halogen, sulfo, carboxyl, nitro, amino, alkyl, or aryl; and H+ and A- are a proton and a conjugate base, respectively, of a protonic acid (the protonic acid is a sulfonic acid, a carboxylic acid, hydrofluoric acid, hydrochloric acid, hydrobromic acid, hydroiodic acid, nitric acid, nitrous acid, sulfuric acid, or sulfurous acid)].
