This invention provides a system and method for aligning, feeding, trimming, slitting, rotating, cross-slitting and stacking sheets, each containing one or more discrete page images thereon that allows for greater automation of the overall process so that reduced or no manual intervention is required to generate completed book stacks or “blocks” from a stream or stack of printed sheets. Sheets are fed to a first, upstream trimming station to remove margin edges and optionally separate the sheets relative to the discrete page images. The sheets are then rotated 90 degrees and fed to a second, downstream trimming station that trims the right-angle edges and optionally separates the sheets into a final group of full-bleed pages, removing margins and gutter strips. The sheets are fed to a stacking assembly to be tacked in page order and any rejected, defective sheets or stacks are removed from the order.

A board war gaming hobbyist's jig for trimming the corners of game counters consists of two 1″×¾″ beveled flanges glued onto a 1½″ square, clear plastic base so that they are at right angles, spaced-apart and with their beveled edges laying in the same plane. A felt or high-density foam backing is adhered to the bottom of the base to provide scratch protection and to add color to the piece, if desired. Unattached elastic portions of an elasticised web are grasped and raised above a support surface for feeding the elasticised web. In various embodiments, a dynamically directed workpiece positioning system may include a transport, a sensor positioned to detect a workpiece on the transport, a cutting member positioned along or downstream of the transport, and a computer system. The sensor may scan the workpiece as the workpiece is moved relative to the transport by a human operator or a positioning device. Based on the scan data, the computer system may generate commands to guide the human operator or positioning device in moving the workpiece to a desired position corresponding to a cut solution for the workpiece. Optionally, the computer system may cause the cutting member to be repositioned while the workpiece is being moved relative to the transport. Once the workpiece is in the desired position, the transport may be used to move the workpiece toward the cutting member. Corresponding methods and apparatuses are also disclosed. 1. A non-volatile computer-readable medium comprising instructions operable , upon execution by a processor , todetermine, based on data from a sensor positioned to detect a workpiece on a transport, at least one actual position of the workpiece relative to the transport;compare the at least one actual position to at least one cut solution for the workpiece; andgenerate, based at least on the comparison, one or more commands configured to cause the workpiece to be moved relative to the transport to a desired position that corresponds to the at least one cut solution.2. A facer facing the ends of polyolefin pipes for butt fusion is modular in the sense that it employs three types of modules, a drive unit, two blade holders and a motor assembly, that are separable from one another and each independently light enough to be hand-lifted along walls and up to ceilings. The drive unit module is adjustable to accommodate different guide rail spacings. The blade holder modules are interchangeable to accommodate different diameters of pipe.
