Couplings, automatic and non-automatic. - An automatic coupling for railway vehicles also adapted for non- automatic operation comprises a rigid coupling-member 8 suspended from the vehicle at a point intermediate its ends by a radius member 17, a linkage connection 12, 13 between the inner end of the coupling-member and the vehicle, and hand-operated mechanism for swinging the links 12, 13 and thereby thrusting the member 8 upwardly and outwardly as constrained by the radius member 17 to a position above the coupling hook 15 of a second vehicle. Preferably the operating mechanism comprises a transverse rotatable shaft 3 supported in slotted brackets 4 and provided at each end with a hand-lever 25 and at its centre with a cranked portion 5 adapted to bear against the link 13. For non-automatic operation the lever 25 is first swung forwardly to raise the coupling-member 8 above the hook 15 and then slightly backwards to allow the coupling- member to drop. Uncoupling is effected by reversing these movements of the lever or by actuating the coupling-member of the opposed vehicle. For automatic operation, e.g. as in shunting, the shaft 3 is fitted with projections 7 adapted to be engaged by fingers 23 on the buffer stems 21 so that, after the coupling-member has been lifted to a position above the opposed hook, it is automatically caused to drop when the two vehicles are brought together. The coupling- member 8 as shown consists of a rear solid part 11, and intermediate slotted link 10 engaged by the radius member 17 and a forward link 9 adapted to pass over the coacting hook. The pivot 14 for the operating link 13 is mounted on the draw-bar 19, which is capable of sliding against the influence of a spring 20 and carries with it a sliding frame 18 through which the shaft 3 passes.

A coupling cleat may be swivelled out of a recess in the front plate, and an actuating-and locking unit for the cleat. Couplings, automatic.-Couplings of the kind in which hooks or claws ride over guides mounted eccentrically and engage spindles, are operated and tightened from the side of the vehicle. The hook m is pivoted on the shaft d with a limited amount of movement controlled by the feather m and sector-shaped slot. It is also capable of slight transverse movement to avoid cross-binding. A projection q engages with a tail r on the hook to keep it horizontal for coupling. The guide o is integral with an eccentric spindle or boss p with which the opposite hook engages. The tightening is due to two actions: (1) the rotation of the disks f, integral with the shaft d give the latter a longitudinal motion in the slot c; (2) the spindle p, being eccentric, increases the effect. In uncoupling, the first motion of the shaft d slackens the coupling, then the hooks are rotated, one by the feather m, and the other by the guide o. The gear may be readily attached to the ordinary drawhook.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Fangvorrichtung (10) für eine Rangierkupplung (2) umfassend einen Fangkörper (11) mit einem Endanschlag (12), einem rechten Seitenanschlag (13) und einem linken Seitenanschlag (13), die zusammen einen haltenden Körper bilden, der einen an drei Seiten begrenzten Innenbereich (B) aufweist und der eine offene, jedoch mit einer Verriegelung (14) verriegelbare, Seite aufweist, die so dimensioniert ist, dass eine vordefinierte Rangierkupplung (2) durch die offene Seite in den Innenbereich (B) bewegt werden kann, wobei die Fangvorrichtung (10) an einem der Anschläge (12, 13) zumindest ein elastisches und/oder elastisch gelagertes Anschlagselement (15a, 15b) aufweist. Die Erfindung betrifft darüber hinaus ein Schienenfahrzeug mit einer solchen Fangvorrichtung sowie ein Verfahren zur Arretierung einer Rangierkupplung.
