The output signal of the circuit (15-24) rapidly retards the ignition point by an electronic adjuster. In addition to the speed limiting, the device provides a fuel mixture regulation. In this manner the device provides a sudden and quick speed limiting without overheating of the engine. The overheating is prevented by simultaneous fuel mixture control which, even with some retard, prevents excessive overheating. The battery voltage is transformed to higher d.c. voltage. This is used for charging a capacitor via a resistor, which is discharged by ignition of a thyristor over the prim. of the appropriate ignition transformer. Das Verfahren dient zur Drehrichtungsumkehr eines Zweitaktmotors durch gezieltes Setzen einer Frühzündung beim Auslaufen. Um die Drehrichtung des Motors mit nur einem Sensor bestimmen zu können, wird vorgeschlagen, mit Hilfe eines Inkrementalgebers zyklische Schwankungen der Winkelgeschwindigkeit des Kurbeltriebes beim Auslaufen zu ermitteln und durch Zuordnung von Gebersegmenten eine Information über die Winkelstellung des Kurbeltriebes zu erlangen, die in Verbindung mit einer weiteren Stellungsinformation durch eine Lücke des Inkrementalgebers zur Bestimmung der Drehrichtung herangezogen wird. Ein hierzu geeigneter Sensor kann bei Kolbenmotoren auch unabhängig von dem Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Winkelstellung des Kurbeltriebes verwendet werden.

Each assembly 2 comprises an electrode 2a of nickel or other metal and a moulded sleeve 2b. The assembly is inserted from the inside of the cover and the conductor lead 5 from the outside, each being secured by a bush screwed into the cover. The pointed inner end of the electrode 2a penetrates part of the way into the rubber covered cable and so makes good contact with the cable strands. Specification 469,260 is referred to.

In the example shown, the shaft 21 is resiliently coupled to a surrounding sleeve 22 by a pin 27 passing through a hole in the shaft 21 and carrying resilient washers 26 of neoprene which lie in a bore in the sleeve 22. Tongues 23 on the sleeve 22 engage notches 24 in a sleeve 20 driven by the engine. A second resilient coupling is provided by a bushing 50 of neoprene arranged between a knurled portion 21c of the shaft 21 and a plate 40 which is coupled by centrifugal mechanism to a sleeve 34a fixed to the ignition timer cam 34 which carries the distributer rotor 33.

A circuit and method for gradually reducing a coil current during a shutdown period is disclosed. The circuit and method include a controller that is configured in a control loop with a current sensor that measures the current in the coil and a transistor that can be controller to limit the current in the coil. The open-loop gain of the controller is determined by a resistance of a variable feedback resistor, and the resistance of the variable feedback resistor is reduced during the shutdown period as the coil current becomes small. When the center and ground electrodes are determined to be conducted with each other, the ignition apparatus alters controlled conditions of a high-frequency power supply which supplies a high-frequency power to the spark plug so as to decrease an average of a primary voltage outputted from the high-frequency power supply to the spark plug, thereby reducing an actual current flowing between the center and ground electrodes of the spark plug. This eliminates the risk of mechanical wear of the center and ground electrodes which usually arises from the flow of high current between the center and ground electrodes, thus resulting in an increase in service life of the spark plug.

A system and method for enhancing spark generation in an ignition coil of an internal combustion engine at low rotational speeds of the flywheel. The method and system monitor the rotational speed of the flywheel and, when the rotational speed of the flywheel is below a threshold rotational speed, the system and method supplies voltage pulses to the primary winding. The timing of the voltage pulses supplied to the primary winding are triggered off of voltage transitions in pulses induced in the primary winding upon rotation of the flywheel. Once the internal combustion engine has started, the switching device transitions into a second condition to disconnect the electrical storage device from the primary winding. The spark generation system of the present disclosure allows for starting of an internal combustion engine upon slower initial rotational speeds.

It has been found that high density articles having improved strength, corrosion resistance, better durability, and decent magnetic characteristics can be manufactured from a ferritic stainless steel powder using a novel method. This technique is especially beneficial in manufacturing parts, such as, reluctor rings, tone wheels, trigger wheels, pump impeller blades, and EGR valves, in large quantities. This method involves (1) compacting the ferritic stainless steel powder in a mold into a green article, (2) sintering the green article at an elevated temperature under vacuum or a reducing atmosphere to produce a sintered article, and (3) forging the sintered article under a reducing or an inert gas atmosphere to a density of greater than 7.5 g/cc in the presence of a graphite free lubricant to produce the high density article. 1. A method for making a high density article from ferritic stainless steel powder wherein said article has good corrosion resistance , higher strength , and decent magnetic properties , said method comprising (1) compacting the ferritic stainless steel powder in a mold into a green article , (2) sintering the green article at an elevated temperature under vacuum or a reducing atmosphere to produce a sintered article , and (3) forging the sintered article under a reducing or an inert gas atmosphere to a density of greater than 7.5 g/cc in the presence of a graphite free lubricant to produce the high density article.2. To accurately determine the position of a marker on a rotating disk, for example coupled to the crankshaft of an automotive engine to determine the angular position thereof, an inductive transducer picks up the field generated by a permanent magnet located on the disk and, to compensate for amplitude variations in the output due to speed changes of the disk, and eliminate the effects of spurious side lobes generated by reversely positioned magnets, the amplitude of the output signal is normalized in an amplifier which includes a non-linear input circuit. The non-linear input circuit, preferably, is a diode-resistor network, in which the diode is forwardly poled, and a controlled current is supplied to the diode, the control being effected by the output of the amplifier in a feedback circuit, so that the output obtained from the amplifier will be uniform regardless of change in speed of the rotating body, and hence change in amplitude of the voltage induced in the inductive pick-up.

An internal combustion engine ignition control includes a variable reluctance pick-up with a winding providing signals to an integrator the output of which controls an ignition switching circuit. The ignition switching circuit includes a current limiter circuit which operates to limit the coil current at a maximum level until the instant of ignition. A capacitor is charged and discharged under the control of the current limiter circuit so that the voltage on it depends on the ratio of the time for which the current limiter circuit is in operation to the ignition cycle duration. An active clamping circuit operates to override the integrator under the control of this capacitor so as to apply a variable preconditioning bias to the output of the integrator which has the effect of varying the instant at which the coil current is switched on. Closed loop dwell control is thus provided in a simple and convenient manner.

Use of the additive may reduce susceptibility of a wellbore to blockages, reduce accumulation of accretions between a drill string and wellbore casing, reduce bit-balling and facilitate separation of undesirable insoluble solids from a drilling fluid returned to the surface.
