A hollow screw and related process of making is provided, wherein the hollow screw is formed from a generally circular corrosion resistant stainless steel disk cut from flat roll stock. The hollow screw includes a head and an elongated and hollow shaft having a wall thickness between about 0.2 to about 0.7 millimeters extending therefrom and defining a shank portion and a threaded portion having a plurality of threads thereon with a rotational drive mechanism configured to facilitate tightening via the threads. The process involves annealing to soften the stamped hollow screw, followed by thread rolling, and then age hardening the hollow screw. As such, the resultant hollow screw is relatively lightweight, about 50% the mass of a solid core screw made from the same material, with a sufficient thread strength to meet most aerospace applications and contributes to important aircraft fuel economy. 1. A method of operating a vehicle transmission having a parking override mechanism including an override lever and a security fastener having a head including a unidirectional inner drive having at least one inner lobe with an inner ramp surface adjacent to an inner drive abutment surface and a unidirectional outer drive having at least one outer lobe with an outer ramp surface adjacent to an outer drive abutment surface , the method comprising:with a unidirectional outer drive tool having a plurality of protrusions, each of the plurality of protrusions including an outer tool ramp surface adjacent to an outer tool abutment surface, engaging the outer tool abutment surface with the outer drive abutment surface of the outer lobe to effect a counter-clockwise rotation of the security fastener;rotating the override lever; andwith a unidirectional inner drive tool having a plurality of protrusions, each of the plurality of protrusions including an inner tool ramp surface adjacent to an inner tool abutment surface, engaging the inner tool abutment surface with the inner ramp surface of the inner lobe to effect a clockwise rotation of the security fastener.2. A system for connecting a wheel rim to a hub flange of a motor vehicle, having a fastener such a threaded nut or bolt, and a tool which engages the fastener in a positive-locking manner in order to tighten or release the fastener. To provide improved protection against theft of wheel rims and tires, the fastener has an annular groove extending axially from an end surface of the fastener, the groove having an annular base and inner and outer sidewalls shaped to form an undercut wider than an opening of the groove, a recess extending axially below the base for receiving a projection of a complementally-shaped key on the tool to allow rotation of the fastener. The undercut prevents an unauthorized person using a mold-making material, from being able to make an imprint of the groove and producing a tool therefrom to release the fastener. 1. A tamper-resistant rotatable fastener for securing a wheel rim to a hub of a motor vehicle , comprising:a head having an end surface perpendicular to a rotation axis of the fastener;an annular key-receiving groove extending axially into the head from the end surface and defined by a base and inner and outer sidewalls, the groove having an undercut portion of greater radial width than an opening of the groove; andat least one recess formed in the base for receiving a projection of a complementally-shaped key to allow rotation of the fastener.2. The fastener of claim 1 , wherein a plurality of recesses are formed in the base claim 1 , and the recesses are spaced from one another around a circumference of the groove in an irregular manner.3.
