Реферат: A pair of sliding contacts esp. for the high- or medium-frequency welding of the longitudinal seam in strip which has been bent to form a tube, are semi-circular in shape and can be fed down two semi-circular slots as the ends wear in use. Contact life is longer and break-down time for changing contacts is reduced. The device consists of two plates sepd. by an insulating plate, each housing a contact and a terminal for connection to the welding generator. Each contact is located in a semi-circular groove fitted with a cover and a spring which keeps the contact pressed firmly against the plate to ensure good electrical contact. A hollow lug carrying coolant is fitted to one end of the contact and a spring-loaded lever presses on the lug, thus keeping the other end of the contact against the tube being welded. As the contact wears, the lug slides round the groove with the contact so that press. is maintained at all times. When the contact is worn-out, the spring-loaded lever triggers a switch which indicates optically or electrically that the contact must be changed. Coolant is fed round both plates and then falls onto the tube being welded.
