Bundling machine for hay, straw and the like
Реферат: 390,792. Binding-apparatus. FUMAL, C., 114, Avenue de l'H¶pital, Chateauroux, Indre, France. July 6, 1931, No. 19460. Convention date, July 7, 1930. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 6 (iii).] Hay or straw is drawn from a hopper 2 by tines 5 projecting from a pair of rotating cylindrical casings 3, 3a, the tines being pivotally mounted on stationary eccentric shafts so that they are withdrawn into the casings after feeding the hay from the hopper. One casing may be driven at a higher rate than the other to' comb the hay. The distance between the casings and the angle of eccentricity of the stationary shafts may be varied. The hay passes over a rotating roller 17 on to an inclined floor 18 above which is a slotted top plate 19 provided with ratchet like members 20 which co-operate with pivoted forks 25 actuated by cranks 22 in feeding the hay along the passage above the floor. Two series of stops comprising adjustable arms 55, 71 are arranged at the end of the passage the hay being forced against these stops by compressors 32 ; simultaneously vertical plates 36 carried at the ends of levers 41 are moved transversely of the passage by the action of cams 39 to compress the hay laterally. When the compression of the hay reaches a predetermined value the stops 55 yield and throw out the clutches through which the casings 3, 3a and the feeding forks 25 are driven. A series of needles 45, which with the corresponding knotters 53 are driven by crown wheels 50, is then brought into action to tie up the bundles. These needles are coupled to the stops 71 and as the needles are moved to tie up the bundles these stops are moved forwards to increase the compression of the hay. The stops 55, 71 are then moved back and the tied bundle ejected by an ejector arm 54. A catch lever is fitted on the knotter shaft by which the machine may be stopped should jamming occur. Small particles of hay falling from the operative parts of the machine reach a cloth or a tank whence they are delivered back to the compressing zone by a fan. The machine may be stationary and actuated by an engine or may be a travelling one, power then being taken from the wheels.
