Light vehicle provided with movable controls for variation of the steering position

In a light vehicle, provided with a non-transversally mounted seat for the driver and passengers sitting side by side, the controls are arranged on a swivelling bar 8 which is movable into and adapted to be fixed in a number of positions transversally with respect to the axis of the vehicle, in order to vary the position of the steering mechanism along the seat for the purpose of balancing the load of the passengers or other load with respect to the vehicle when the load is varied. The vehicle may have three or four wheels and the engine may be mounted at the rear or at the front. The steering column of the front steering frame 4 is pivotally mounted in a sleeve 3 and carries a lug 6 to which a crank 7 is fixed. The swivelling bar 8 is hinged around the axis of the sleeve 3 and carries a handle-bar 16 on which levers 17, 18 and grips 19, 20 are provided for the control of the clutch, accelerator and brake. A rod 21 is pivoted to the handle-bar 16 and at 23 to the crank 7. The bar 8 has a mounting 10 for a spring-stressed and normally shiftable tooth 11 which is designed to co-operate with a plurality of notches cut in a sector 12 integral with a support structure 13 connected to a frame 9 which defines the dashboard. Two rods 26, 27 are carried by a part 2 of the vehicle chassis and form joints 26a and 27a for telescopic rods 28, 29 respectively. The rods 28, 29 are connected together at 27a and are linked by engaging means 8a to the bar 8. The rod 28 has a fork 28a which imparts a sliding movement to a control pedal 30 slidable along and turnable with an axle 31 of square cross-section. The axle 31 is mounted in a tubular member 32 which has a longitudinal slot through which the pedal 30 projects. The member 32 is carried by bearings 33 fixed to the frame 9.
