Improvements in connection with Trolleys of Electric Tramcars and the like.

Реферат: 8443. Halstead, H., Johnson, A., and Winn, S. April 20. Electric tramways on the overhead - conductor system. Collectors.-Consists in supporting the trolly pulley so that, when it leaves the overhead conductor, it automatically becomes free to tilt or fall over upon meeting any obstructions. Fig. 1 shows a side and Fig. 3 a sectional end view of a trolly head. The pulley b is mounted upon a spindle c, passing through the bearing- block d, which is capable of turning on trunnions e in extensions f of the tube a. The block d and extensions fare slotted so that the projections h of the loose collar i, which surrounds the spindle c can move under the action of the spring k and the pressure on the trolly pulley. When the pulley engages the overhead wire, the projections h are forced down into the slots in the extensions f, thus locking the spindle in an upright position. Upon the pulley leaving the wire, the projections rise clear of the outer slots, when the pulley and block d are free to move on the trunnions e after obstructions are passed, the pulley is returned to its upright position by the springs g. The spindle c may be mounted on ball bearings as shown, and the springs and trunnions cased in by caps.
