Реферат: 14,793. McConville, E. July 18. Engines with reciprocating cylinders.-Consists of an engine with a movable cylinder which reciprocates oppositely to the piston. The engine is shown in plan in Fig. 2. The cylinder F<1> is connected by rods E to a crosshead D, from which extend connecting-rods C to the two outer cranks b on the main shaft. The piston-rod is attached to a second crosshead G, with openings through which pass freely the rods E, and this crosshead works on the middle crank b<1>. The distributing-valve is worked by a rocking lever k carried on the crosshead which reciprocates with the cylinder. The cylinder is supported on rollers, one form of the arrangement being shown in Fig. 9. The main connecting- rod is made with resilient bearings at the crank end as shown in Fig. 7. The brasses R have a certain play, and are guided by projections s, between which and the brasses are interposed springs I. Steam enters and leaves the cylinder chest through jointed pipes t.
