Improvements in Gauges for Cylindrical Surfaces and Screw Threads.
Реферат: 1825. Ernst, G. Jan. 26. Contour gauges for cylinders and screw-threads, internal and external. To prevent distortion during the hardening process from affecting the accuracy of the gauges, they are fitted, before hardening, upon an abutment, and after that process are slit longitudinally and pressed again upon the abutment by a tightening-ring. Fig. 7 shows an external gauge, in which the split ring a, with gauge threads a‹, is pressed upon the abutment b by a split ring c tightened by a screw d. The conical screw a<1> allows the effective diameter of the abutment to be varied to compensate for wear. Fig. 8 shows an internal gauge with a similar means for varying the effective diameter of the abutment b, against which the split ring a is forced out by the wedgeshaped part c drawn down by a screw d. In Fig. 10, the diameter of the split ring a is varied by the engagement of a spiral rib on the disc b with a spiral groove in the upper part of the ring.
