In the arrangement shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the hanger legs 6 are attached to a plate 2, and are each built up of a pair of angle-irons spaced apart by pieces 10, 20. The pieces 10 interposed between the ends of clamping-strips 12, which retain in position the brace or bush for carrying the adjusting-device 14, the whole being secured to the legs by rivets &c. 15 ; or the strips 12 and the pieces 10 may be dispensed with, and the brace formed with lugs which are secured between the leg members. The lower adjusting-device 17 for the journal box 16 is mounted in a brace 18 secured to the legs by bolts &c., or the adjusting device may be arranged between strips separated by spacing-devices and secured between the members of each leg by bolts &c. Each leg may be constructed of a single T-shaped piece, the clamping-strips for supporting the brace being provided with flanges for attachment to the flanges of the leg members. In Fig. 8 is shown another arrangement of the hanger built up of angleirons. The intermediate brace 39 consists of plates 40 spaced apart and secured to the leg members. A slot or opening is formed between the plates for the passage of the adjusting-screw 47, which is locked in position by the nuts 48. A nut to receive the screw 47 may be located in the opening between the plates, or this opening may be tapped for the same purpose. The lower brace may be similar to the brace 39, or it may consist of a block 49 clamped between the leg members by bolts &c. A recess is formed in the block to receive a nut, which engages the adjusting-screw 54. Adjusting-screws 56 arranged at right-angles to the screws 47, 54 pass between the leg members, or engage nuts clamped between these members. Each of the angle-irons may be widened near the top end so as to give a wider attachment base, and each pair of irons may be braced together near the top by a flanged plate.
