Wrenches; vices.-Chain pipe wrenches have double-ended reversible jaws B with the chain C pivoted centrally of the jaws, and locks m, n, or r each of which is adapted to engage with the chain in both positions of the jaw. The lock may be formed with two hook-like members m, n, one of which acts as a locking-member and the other as a retaining-member for the chain. The jaws have front faces a, a' and rear faces b, b<1> connected by curved portions c, c<1> which serve as gauges for indicating the necessary length of chain. The jaws are fixed to the handle A by bolts d, e. In the modification shown in Fig. 5, the chain links are formed with side wings or lugs q, which are adapted to engage with circular locks or projections r formed on the inner sides of the jaws. Specification No. 18,485, A.D. 1907, is referred to.
