Spanners. - The nut &c. is gripped between jaws a (only one shown), which slide in and on suitable guides 10, band 6 in the head A and are formed with T-shaped ends for engaging in a T-section slot 7 made transversely in the jaw holder B, which consists of a held 4 and a stem 1 threaded to engage with the jaw-adjusting nut C. The jaw holder B is kept from turning by grooves 5 engaging with the guides 6 and the nut C is kept in place against the head B by a semicircular flange 3. The head B is encircled by a band S, the ends of which are fastened at 13 to the handles H, H<1> pivoted at 14 to the casing I and prevented from going too far by a block 15. The head is rigidly held when the handles H, H<1> are moved respectively in the direction of the arrows 1, 2.
