The nnderlying edge is cut to leave a flap b, in which eyelets are formed. The cut-out part is filled in by a piece i which is stitched at one side and at the ends. The overlapping edge f is stiffened and made to fit close to the leg. The eyelets are formed in pairs below those in the opposite edge so as to pull the legging level on the leg. The lace is secured just below the bottom eyelet in the flap, and is then threaded through the double eyelet in the front part, through the flap, and so on, as shown. The top part is secured by a strap and buckle, the strap passing from the underlying part through an eyelet in the overlapping part from the inside, and thence back to the buckle ; the end of the lace is secured around the buckle. Two buttonholes, one large and one small, are provided at the top back part of the legging to attach them to the breeches of the wearer.
