Реферат: 21,667. Jones, T. J., and Jones, E. E. Oct. 29. Hoists ; cranes.- Consists of means for effecting the inward or outward traverse of the load in a jib crane for sacks, boxes, crates, hay, &c. The lifting-rope depends from a trolley b running on the horizontal member a and capable of being drawn outwards by means of a rope d, sheave c, and drum f. The drum f is loose on a spindle g, on which is also loosely mounted a spur-wheel i gearing with the winding-drum k. The spindle g is driven from the crank spindle m<1>, and can be connected by a clutch h with either the drum f or the wheel i. Ratchets and pawls are fitted to both drums, and also a common brake strap p. A lever q<2> controls the brake strap, and may be also connected to the sliding piece which operates the clutch. A double gear v, v<1>, &c. is also provided for the winding-barrel. In a modification, the two barrels are on the same shaft. In the arrangement shown, the load moves inwards by its own weight, but means may be provided for moving it positively in both directions.
