Elastic - fluid turbines ; impact-wheels. - A reversible turbine of the reflexed-flow type has two oppositely-directed sets of buckets 12, 12<1>-13, 13<1> on each wheel 4, 5, and two oppositely-directed nozzles 20, 21 project into the spaces between the buckets of each set. A rocking reversing valve 28 controls the nozzle inlets 24, 25 for forward and reversed running respectively. A piston valve 35, actuated by steam admitted through passages 34, 34<1> connecting the valve chamber and the nozzle inlets, controls duplicate passages 38<1>, 39 leading from the first-stage wheel 4 to the secondstage wheel 5. The lateral buckets 12, 13 and the central buckets 12<1>, 13<1> of the wheels have dovetailed shanks fitting the correspondingly shaped rim of the wheel, and are secured to it by bolts 45 or the like.
