Building wheels; tyres, elastic other than pneumatic. - Apparatus for springing retaining-bands over the flanges of the rim of a vehicle wheel carrying a rubber tyre, such as described in Specification No. 16,567, A.D. 1903, comprises a rigid standard A, shown in plan, and an adjustablymounted parallel beam D, between which is placed the wheel J having the bands S partly applied. The free ends of the bars G, mounted on the members A, D, support the wheel, while between the other ends is a pivoted block K, through which passes a screw shaft M ; this is adapted to bear against an interchangeable shoe 0 fitting the tread of the tyre P. The inner edges of the beams A, D are provided with angle.irons Q, which take the strain of the operation, and to the outer faces of the beams are secured the stiffening-bars F. The shaft M forces the projecting portion of the wheel back between the members A, D, and the retaining-bands made of a heavy gauge wire, are forced over the flanges of the rim.
