The bolt A is guided by the fore-plate B and the guide-plate C. Inclines a<3>, a<4> are formed on the tail of the bolt, so that, when it is locked or unlocked by the key, the spring D ensures the completion of the movement. A notch in the bolt-tail prevents the bolt from moving back until lifted by the key. The projection a<5> and the shoulder a<7> limit the movements of the bolt. A latch for pedestals is shown in Fig. 6. The bolt E has a round nose e', and is guided by the stump g projecting through the slot e' ; a spring H shoots it out. For wardrobe and other doors, the lock and latch may be combined in the same casing.
