Реферат: Elongated needle shaped, sheathed fuel elements are spaced parallel to each other as a bundle within a jacket, esp. hexagonal and of stainless steel, through which the coolant flows. To prevent distortion and deformation of the jacket, which would render difficult and perhaps dangerous any refuelling operations, the flow of coolant in the jacket is canalized by inner shells etc., in such a way that the temp of the jacket is held outside the range 450-500 degrees C. The rate of swelling of the jacket material when exposed to radiation is thus significantly less than the maximum rate of swelling.
