Coupling - arrangements.-In a coupling for bicycles, motorcycles, &c. comprising transverse members connected to members of the frames and forks by clips and ball or other universal joints, diagonal stays m are arranged in an horizontal plane between the member c connecting the heads and the upper member b connecting the rear forks. The stays are each formed of two rods adapted to fold against the members b, c, and the ends of each pair of rods are clamped or similarly secured together, as by a sleeve n<1> slid over the engaging corrugated or toothed ends of the rods. Where necessary, the transverse members may be telescopically adjustable. The clips for the members a, b consist of two parts hinged together at f, Fig. 5, and provided upon one part with a hinge-bolt g which enters a slot formed in the lug g<2> of the other part, and is secured by a nut g<1>. The member d is connected to fork-like parts j, Fig. 3, secured by clip members i, i<1> and wing-nuts l. The pin connecting the one part of the universal joint k to the member to which it is secured may be arranged to rotate therein, pins x being provided to engage a circumferential groove in the pin. A ball-and-socket joint may be used in lieu of the universal joint shown in Figs. 3 and 5. A fifth transverse member q may connect the lower portions of the front forks or the front members of the frames. When not in use, the rods m may be held by clips p, Fig. 7, upon the upper transverse members, the clips comprising an outer spring member and a body part p<1>, between which and the limbs of the spring the rods are retained. According to the Provisional Specification, a single central clamp may be provided where the four diagonal rods meet.
