An appliance for use in making rugs
Реферат: 641,995. Cutting pile for rug-making. SLATTER, P. M. Dec. 31, 1947, No. 35157. [Class 142(iv)] Yarn for forming a rug pile is wound on a former comprising two limbs 1 held in spaced parallel relationship by a removable cap 6. The yarn on the former is secured to a backing by a row of stitches between the two limbs, and cutter blades 3 are fixed to the outer sides of the free ends of the limbs and are inclined angularly with respect to the plane of the limbs. Upon withdrawal of the former, the blades 3 cut the yarn, producing longer pile pieces on the underside of the former. When formed into U- shaped tufts, the longer pile pieces wound on the underside and the shorter pile pieces .wound on the top side of the former produce a pile of uniform depth. The limbs may be formed of a single length of springy metal rod or bar doubled upon itself so as to be springy, or they may be made of non-springy material and joined by a part circular band of springy metal. The cap 6 may be replaced by a wire catch, in which case guards are provided for the blades.
