Electrode for spot welding
Реферат: 540,988. Welding. HALL, P. M. June 6, 1940, No. 9901. [Class 83 (iv)] In a spot welding electrode, particularly for non- ferrous metals, of the type comprising an outer member carried by a supporting arm and an inner member axially slidable thereon and carrying the welded contact, and a compression spring connection between the members so that the inner member may yield outwardly relative to the outer member when pressed against the work, the spring is mounted in a cage screw-threaded into the outer member, the spring bearing at one end against the outer end of the cage and at the other end against a slidable transmitting-element interposed between the spring and the inner member. The outer tube 22 is clamped by a screw 23 in the operating arm 10 and is screwed at 27 to receive the nut 32 of an adjustable cage 31 which carries a spring 34 between a fixed washer 30 and a recessed washer 26. The washer 26 engages the upper end of the inner tube 21 which carries the welding tip 20, relative angular movement of the tubes being prevented by a stud 47 and spline 46. The current is conducted to the inner tube by flexible copper braids 40 secured thereto at one end and to a ring 42 at the other end which is adjustable on the tube 22 and then secured by the clamping screw 23. Water cooling pipes 48 lead into the tube 21. When the electrode is moved into engagement with the work by operation of the arm 10, further movement of the arm 10 causes the tube 22 to slide on the tube 21 and so the spring 34 applies a yielding pressure to the upper end of the tube 21 through the washer 26 so that the pressure of the electrode cannot exceed the yielding pressure of the spring.
