Strip metal hooks 6 provide a guide for flexible cable 19 tensioned by a capstan hook 6a so as to press the face of cathode-ray tube 3 against a mask 2 of television receiver cabinet 1. Hook 6a comprises plates 9, 10 having apertures through which a rod 12 passes; the upper end of the rod is formed with a flattened spigot 14 riveted into aperture 15 in a turn plate 16 having finger grip portions 17, and the rod is retained in position by a circlip inserted in groove 18. Flexible cable 19, which may be a Bowden cable, i$ secured at one end to hook 6a, and its free end is inserted through hole 13. Rod 12 is secured in the cable-tensioned position by dropping a self-tapping screw through one of holes 20 and into one of holes 21. Tag 22 may be formed on hook 6a for soldering an earth connection to the conductive coating on the exterior of the cathode-ray tube.
