Manure distributors; ploughs.-In a machine for distributing artificial manures, fertilizers, &c., in which a box or casing a, Figs. 2 and 3, is mounted between the stilts A of a plough near the mouldboard, the manure is discharged through an aperture e at the front end of the semicircular bottom a<1> of the box by means of helical rods d extending from a worm-wheel b, which is mounted on a longitudinal shaft b' within the box and is driven bv a worm c on a shaft c<1> carrying a driving-wheel c<2> at its outer end. The shaft c<1> is formed with a universal joint c<4> near the middle of its length, and is connected at its outer end by a chain c<5> to the front of the plough. A marker c<3> may be provided behind the driving- wheel c<2>. By pulling a rope or chain c<6> attached to the marker c<3>, or to the shaft c<1> near the wheel c<2>, the outer half of the shaft c<1> can be turned on the joint c<4> and brought on top of the plough. The ends f<1> of a cross-strap f on the rear end of the box a are shaped to engage the stilts A, and the slide e<1>, which regulates the opening e, may be operated from the rear of the plough by means of a bell-crank lever e<2> and rod e<5>.
