Universal joints.-A universal joint comprises a disc formed of a number of plates 1 arranged circumferentially in series in staggered relationship, each plate consisting of an endless wire, band, or cord 4 wound round a resilient body 3 at the, ends of which are mounted bushes 2 for the reception of bolts mounted in claws on the ends of the shafts, the assembled plates being embedded in rubber and vulcanized to form the disc. Sheet-metal caps 7 secured to the bushes have bent lugs 7a, 7<b> engaging respectively against the outer surface of the disc and in recesses 5 left between adjacent ends of the plates.
