Various arrangeinents of walls Figs. 3 to 6 (not shown) are cast to guide the flows to cool especially the exhaust valve guides. To promote uniform cooling the sizes of the ducts 25 leading between the induction valve chambers 12, 13 may be smaller than that between the exhaust valve chambers 14, 15. The arrangement of the cavities is such as to render casting simpler, the connecting passageways 20, 21 being machined after casting.
