Improvements in the electrodeposition of zinc
Реферат: 388,992. Electrodeposition of zinc. KAIZIK, K., 26, Schweidnitzer, Stadtgraben, Breslau, Germany. July 9, 1932, No. 19493. [Class 41.] A cell for the electrodeposition of zinc from solutions also containing manganese using insoluble anodes is provided with partitions 5, Fig. 2, transverse to the electrodes 3 to provide a downward return path at the sides for the electrolyte which rises between the electrodes owing to heat and the liberation of gas. The partitions may extend to the bottom of the cell and to the surface of the electrolyte if openings are provided at those places. Cooling pipes may be disposed in the outer channels to assist the circulation or the vessel may be provided with a cooling jacket. The partitions may be provided with grooves to receive the electrodes. In a modification the apparatus comprises a number of independent electrode assemblies each comprising a pair of anodes with separating strips and an intermediate cathode. In the modification shown in Fig. 11, the partitions are built up of units 11, each carrying two anodes 3 and having grooved extensions between which the cathodes 4 are held. Double anodes may be provided with intermediate reinforcing members. Manganese dioxide is deposited on the anodes as a compact protective coating ; the adherence of this coating is improved by providing the anodes with a number of small perforations.
