Apparatus for feeding liquid such as potters' slip comprises a vessel 11 mounted at one end on a pivot 13, and supported at the other end by a spring 14, the downward movement of the vessel as it fills with liquid being adapted to open a valve 23, controlling a supply of steam or pressure gas to the vessel which forces the liquid therefrom, and the vessel is then raised by the spring. Liquid enters the vessel through a pipe 8, check valve 12 and flexible hose 10 and is forced therefrom through a valve 17, to a delivery pipe 16. An abutment 18 on the vessel actuates relay valves 20, 19, which operate the valve 23, controlling both the supply.and exhaust of the pressure fluid through pipes 25, 27 respectively. The valve 23 may alternatively be operated by a solenoid controlled by contacts actuated by the abutment. The spring may be a "fluid spring."
