Bristles, fixing; stocks.-The bristles of all kinds of brushes and especially of dabbing- brushes for combing - machines are made adjustable for wear by the insertion of plugs H, Fig. 3, of the required length as the brush becomes worn. The bristletufts F are retained in holes E in a wooden or light metal stock A by wires G. The holes E may be constructed at E or made of inverted conical shape or of uniform diameter throughout. In the latter case, a back B, Fig. 1, of steel is made to cover the top of the stock A. Otherwise the back B is of the form shown and is bolted at c to the stock and, for attachment to a machine, is provided with screws D which are prevented from turning by pins D<1>.
