Реферат: 15,939. Tyler, J. L. March 2, [date applied for under Sec. 103 of Patents &c. Act, A.D. 1883]. Mitering; planing.-Relates to a machine for mitering and trimming wood. Fig. 1 shows a plan. The knives or cutters 4 are mounted at right-angles on the vertical slide 3, which is reciprocated by the handle 8, acting through the rack 6 and pinion 7. The wood to be mitered &c. is placed on the table 1 against one of the adjustable fences 11. These fences are made to turn on centres, a short distance apart, and placed below the table so as not to interfere with the movement of the cutters. The periphery of the table is graduated so that the fences can be set at the required angle. The fences 11 are not mounted directly on the table, but on a slide 10 working in guides in the table, by which means the fences can be adjusted at the required distance from the reciprocating cutters. A gauge 40 to determine the thickness of the cut is mounted on the slide 3, and an attachment 33 may be made to the fence 11 to give additional support to the wood.
