Реферат: Methods (100, 400) of making catalyst-coated membranes are provided. Application of a first catalyst ink to first side of a proton-exchange membrane forms a first electrode coating thereon (105, 405). Removal of a backing from the proton-exchange membrane exposes a second side of the proton-exchange membrane (115) permitting application of a second catalyst ink to the exposed second side of the proton-exchange membrane to form a second electrode coating thereon (120, 415). The cathode catalyst ink includes a cathode catalyst (205, 505), a cathode ionomer (210, 510), and a cathode solvent (215). The anode catalyst ink includes anode particles (335) dispersed in an inert, fluorinated, and nonpolar solvent (340). The anode particles include an anode catalyst (305, 605), a water electrolysis catalyst (320, 620), and an anode ionomer (310, 610).
