The sheets of cardboard are fed between guides A<2> on the board A<1>, Fig. 3, and are carried forward by feedrollers E, E<1>, F, E' driven by gearing from the main shaft B. The material is first cut into strips by cutting-disks H, carried by slides H<1>, movable vertically on guides I and adjusted by a nut. The guide I and slide H<1> are secured by a bolt P, the head J<4> of which is capable of sliding in a T-shaped groove C' in a cross-piece C. The creasing-dies are secured, respectively, to supports O, J, capable of transverse adjustment and secured by bolts N<5>, J<1>, the heads of which engage in T- shaped grooves C<2>, D' in the cross-pieces C, D. The block O is also adjustable vertically by means of a nut N<4>. The lower creasing-die, Fig. 7, comprises two blocks K<1>, secured to the support J and having screwed thereto die plates K<2>, the adjacent edges K<4> of which form a V-shaped aperture terminating in a parallel-sided opening K<5>. The edges K<3> of the plates K<2> are preferably curved as shown. A plate L having a central rib L<1> elevated at the end L' is placed between the blocks K<1> and normally pressed upwards against the plates K<2> by spiral springs M. Longitudinal motion is prevented by two pins on the blocks K<1> engaging holes in the plate L. The upper die P, Fig. 6, is secured to the arm O<1> of the block O, and at one end is formed with two parallel ridges P<2> which extend into the V-shaped aperture between the plates K', the intermediate portion P<3> bearing against the raised portion L' of the rib L<1>. The other end of the die P is formed with a central rib P<4>, preferably slightly dovetailed, adapted to extend into the narrower portion K<5> of the V-shaped aperture. The cardboard is preferably first cut into as many strips as there are creasing-dies, and, after being drawn between the dies, it emerges with a crease as shown in Fig. 11. The material is finally trimmed by cutting-disks. While passing between the dies, the cardboard is bent first in one direction and then the other, thus "breaking" the material and ensuring a permanent crease. The blocks K<1> may be adjusted by washers to accommodate cardboard of different thicknesses.
