Реферат: For the purpose of non-destructive testing of ferromagnetic specimens, for example of wire cables, an arrangement of magnets is employed to inject a magnetic field into the specimen (3) and extract it therefrom. Sensors (7) are arranged in the injection and/or extraction zone of the magnetic field, which are employed to detect the magnetic flux as a function of the magnetic resistance of the specimen. As this magnetic resistance is determined by the magnitude of the cross-sectional area of the ferromagnetic specimen material transversely to the injected field lines and along the specimen section through which these flow, signals can be picked up on the sensors (7), which are significant with regard to the state of the specimen along the section through which the field is passing. The arrangement of magnets (1, 2) is designed in such a way that elongated specimens (3) such as, in particular, wire cables, can be pulled continuously through said arrangement, which provides for continuous registration of the specimen state along its longitudinal extent.
