Detecting the edge of a hot glass ribbon - on a float glass tank using a movable radiation pyrometer
Реферат: In a float glass tank, the location of the edge of the glass ribbons is detected by means of a probe of a radiation pyrometer which recieves radiation from the glass, the probe being located on the end of the shaft movable back-and-forth through the wall of the furnace, above the hod of the melt so that the variation of the radiation density can be measured. At any given temp. of the bath and the glass the change of temp. recorded as the shaft moves in and out can be related to the distance of the glass from the edge of the tank. This in turn, when measured on both sides of the tank, determines whether the glass is the correct thickness and is moving forward uniformly through the tank. Method is more accurate than direct observation visually or by closed circuit TV camera.
