The present invention relates to a kit for preventing or treating cancer and a method for preventing or treating cancer. More specifically, the present invention relates to a kit for preventing or treating cancer and a method for preventing or treating cancer using the kit, wherein the kit comprises: a) a first composition containing a Descurainia Sophia or Peucedanum praeruptorum extract or a fraction thereof as an active ingredient; and b) a second composition containing a platinum-based anticancer drug as an active ingredient. In addition, the present invention relates to a method for preventing or treating cancer by co-administrating the first composition and the second composition. According to the present invention, the co-administration of the first composition and the second composition exhibits a synergetic effect against cancer, mitigates cancer cachexia, and reduces toxicity induced by a platinum-based anticancer.

The present invention relates to a composition for preventing, alleviating or treating diseases caused by side effects of anticancer agents comprising a Cistanchis Herba extract as an effective component. In consequence of treating a Cistanchis Herba extract to marrow cells in mice, it was confirmed that a decrease in a hemoblast colony caused by an anticancer agent is recovered, and bone marrow depression caused by the anticancer agent is recovered in animal models inducing bone marrow depression through intraperitoneal injection of the anticancer agent. Accordingly, the Cistanchis Herba extract of the present invention can be used as a composition for preventing, alleviating and treating diseases caused by side effects of the anticancer agent and can increase effects of the anticancer agent through coadministration of the anticancer agent as an anticancer adjuvant.
