Реферат: A tamping machine (1) for tamping switches and crossings on a railway track has a machine frame (3), supported on running gear, with a track-lifting and lining instrument provided on said machine frame between the running gear, and a tamping unit (12) with tamping tools (19) which can be positioned by drives (21) and set in vibration. Said tamping tools (19) are arranged on a tool carrier (20) connected to a tool frame (23) so as to be vertically adjustable via vertical guides (22), and the tool frame (23) is designed so as to be adjustable in the track transverse direction in relation to the machine frame (3). An additional lifting device (14), which has a vertically adjustable lifting tool (38), for lifting a stretch of rails (35) of a switch situated laterally beside the machine (1) is fixed to the tool frame (23) of the transversely adjustable tamping unit (12) so as to be vertically adjustable by a lifting drive (13). <IMAGE>
