Реферат: In a method for producing vertical relative movement between the vertically movable boiler (12) and its lid (13) in a container-filling machine, after detaching the connection between lid and boiler, the lid is held at a fixed height and the boiler is moved up and down on its own. Consequently, it is possible to get at the interior of the boiler particularly simply and quickly, for example for the purpose of cleaning or inspection. A container-filling machine for carrying out the method has, behind a motor-driven vertically adjusting device (7 to 11) which is present in any case for adaptation to different container heights, only one further device for securing the lid in the upper end position. This device has a plurality of columns (20) which are connected to the fixed frame (11) and have brackets (21) fixed to their upper ends and screws (22) fitted in the brackets. These screws can be screwed into the lid when the latter is situated in its upper end position. <IMAGE>
