Calculating-apparatus.-In a machine of the general arithmometer type having setting-rigs, such rings are locked wnen the operating-handle is not in its position of rest, the number se on the rings is displayed on indicators in a line and the registering-discs are so operated that they do not over-run. The handle m is shown in the position of rest, with its bolt p forced by the spring m<1> into the recess n of the frame, pressing in the rod g and thereby throwing locking- projections b<1> on the bar b out of gear with teeth on the setting-rings, and also keeping the lever y displaced against the spring t, so that wheels i may be in gear with wheels q on the setting-rings and other wheels v on the indicators o, which are thus moved as the rings are set. The eccentric-rod 3 of an eccentric 2 on the main shaft z has a slot through which a fixed pin 5 passes, and the motion of the extremity 3<1> of the rod thus obtained is utilized to drive intermittently gear-wheels 6 which actuate the registering train.
