A rotary mould table a is mounted on a shaft b over a fixed table, and is rotated intermittently by an endless belt k and a pawl engaging with a ratchetwheel l, or worm or other gearing. An upper pressing-plunger e works in a cylinder d, which is first supplied with water at low pressure by a large pump h<1> until the press-head comes into action, and afterwards with high-pressure water by a small pump h<2>, worked from the same crosshead as the large pump. The delivery pipes i from the pumps are united to a common supply pipe i<1>, and are fitted with loaded escape valves g,j and pipes g<1>, j<1>, and a non-return valve g'. After the pressing action is over, the whole system is relieved of pressure by opening a valve i' by hand, and the ram is raised by a counterweight o connected to the ram by chains passing over pulleys o'. By this system, water is supplied directly from the pumping-engine tothe ram without the use of an accumulator or intensifier. The slabs are ejected from the moulds by mechanical, or mechanical and manual, means.
