System and method for biphasic transdermal iontophoretic delivery of therapeutic agents

Номер: AU2012230701A2
Принадлежит:

Various embodiments provide methods and systems for the biphasic iontophoretic transdermal delivery of therapeutic agents. An embodiment of a method for such delivery comprises positioning at least one electrode assembly in electrical communication with a patient's skin. The assembly includes a solution comprising a therapeutic agent which passively diffuses into the skin. A dose of agent is delivered from the assembly into the skin during a first period using a first current having a characteristic e.g., polarity and magnitude, to repel the agent out of the assembly. During a second period, a second current having a characteristic to attract the agent is used to retain the agent in the assembly such that delivery of agent into skin is minimized. A dose of agent may be delivered on demand by an input from the patient. Embodiments may be used for delivery of agents which cause adverse effects from unwanted passive diffusion.

Personalized cancer vaccines are created by predicting whether a first neoantigen or a second neoantigen of an individual cancer patient has a stronger binding affinity for a human leukocyte antigen (HLA) complex of the patient and creating a particle containing the neoantigen with the stronger predicted binding affinity. Such a predicting step includes artificial intelligence, statistical modeling, or a combination thereof. Such a particle is created by encapsulating the neoantigen with the stronger predicted binding affinity for the HLA complex of the patient in a material. Placing the antigen in a particular sized particle is referred to here as Size Exclusion Antigen Presentation Control, (SEAPAC) used in methods of treating the patient using such a personalized cancer vaccine.

Real-time self-calibrating sensor system and method

Номер: US20120123690A1
Принадлежит: Medtronic Minimed Inc

A system and method for calibrating a sensor of a characteristic monitoring system in real time utilizes a self-calibration module for periodic determination of, and compensation for, the IR drop across unwanted resistances in a cell. A current-interrupt switch is used to open the self-calibration module circuit and either measure the IR drop using a high-frequency (MHz) ADC module, or estimate it through linear regression of acquired samples of the voltage across the sensor's working and reference electrodes (Vmeasured) over time. The IR drop is then subtracted from the closed-circuit value of Vmeasured to calculate the overpotential that exists in the cell (Vimportant). Vimportant may be further optimized by subtracting the value of the open-circuit voltage (Voc) across the sensor's working and reference electrodes. The values of Vmeasured and Vimportant are then controlled by respective first and second control units to compensate for the IR drop.

Nuclear receptor LXR is an important member of 49 nuclear receptors in human bodies and has irreplaceable regulatory effects on cholesterol and fat metabolisms. The regulation of the biological activity of LXR may have therapeutic effects to the conditions such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular obstructions, non-insulin dependent hyperglycemia, immune function disorders, and central nerve functional degeneration. We have developed a group of novel Chinese materia medica preparations targeting nuclear receptor LXR by using a computer-simulated docking technology and a process for determining biological activities of human cells cultured ex vivo. The group of preparations are featured by simple ingredients, low costs, easy to prepare, etc. No significant adverse effects were found in initial acute toxicology analysis which was carried out using mice. 1. REAL-TIME SELF-CALIBRATING SENSOR SYSTEM AND METHOD

Номер: US20120310063A1
Принадлежит: Medtronic Minimed, Inc.

1. A system for calibrating a sensor of a characteristic monitoring system in real time by determining , and compensating for , an IR drop across unwanted resistances in a cell , said sensor including a counter electrode , a reference electrode , and a working electrode in communication with a user's blood or interstitial fluids to produce signals indicative of said characteristic , the system comprising:a first control unit having a potentiostat, said potentiostat including an operational amplifier connected in an electrical circuit to maintain substantial equality between the magnitude of a measured voltage across the sensor's working and reference electrodes and the magnitude of an applied voltage;a current-interrupt switch electrically connected between the operational amplifier's output and the sensor's counter electrode to provide a closed circuit when the switch is closed and an open circuit when the switch is opened; and ["wherein the second control unit estimates the magnitude of the IR drop through linear ...

Принадлежит:

An image volume formed by plural anatomical images each having plural image slices of different imaging modalities is segmented by a 2D convolutional neural network (CNN). An individual anatomical image is preprocessed to form a mixed-context image by incorporating selected image slices from two adjacent anatomical images without any estimated image slice. The 2D CNN utilizes side information on multi-modal context and 3D spatial context to enhance segmentation accuracy while avoiding segmentation performance degradation due to artifacts in the estimated image slice. The 2D CNN is realized by a BASKET-NET model having plural levels from a highest level to a lowest level. The number of channels in most multi-channel feature maps of a level decreases monotonically from the highest level to the lowest level, allowing the highest level to be rich in low-level feature details for assisting finer segmentation of the individual anatomical image. 1. Controlling drug delivery transitions

Номер: US20150133886A1
Принадлежит: MEDTRONIC INC

Devices, systems, and techniques for transitioning between different drug delivery sources or different drug concentrations may account for diffusion and mixing of drug within the fluid. In one example, a method may include determining a flow rate for a fluid to be delivered to a patient via a drug pump and a catheter in fluid communication with a reservoir of the drug pump. The fluid includes a drug. The method also includes determining a concentration profile of the drug delivered via the catheter, wherein the concentration profile identifies a volume of delivered fluid needed to achieve a target transition dose of the drug. The method further includes determining, by a processor and based on the flow rate and the concentration profile, an initial delivery period required to achieve the target transition dose by delivering the fluid at the flow rate.
