Реферат: The process according to the invention is characterised in that in a first stage (T) N-containing and/or aromatic toxins are removed and, where appropriate, urea is cleaved to ammonium bicarbonate, in a stage (K) the disturbed balance of the substances present as cations in the solutions to be regenerated is restored, in a stage (A) the disturbed balance of the substances present as anions is restored and, at the same time, the pH is made suitable for physiological requirements and the resulting regenerate is returned to the patient's blood circulation or used anew for detoxication and regeneration. The invention also relates to an apparatus for carrying out the process according to the invention, which comprises a container for the adsorbents of stage (T), the cation exchanger, molecular sieves and anion exchanger with rigid or flexible boundaries, a membrane which is permeable to CO2 in stage (K), a sterilising filter at the outlet of the regeneration unit and a pH measurement point upstream of the return of the regenerate to another blood detoxication cycle.
