Spin welding tool for plugging thermoplastic tubing - designed to avoid fouling of the inner faces of the tubing or skirt
Реферат: Welding tool comprising a mandrel for supporting both a tube and a plug to be welded into one end of the skirt, where the heat is generated by a pressure tool comprising two concentric components of which one is made to rotate. The inner member bears on the cap or disc, while the outer sleeve bears against the end of the skirt. Either the inner member is turned to make the cap spin w.r.t. the skirt held by the outer member, or vice-versa, to generate friction heating at the skirt/cap interface. The sleeve has a curved channel which bends the end of the skirt inwards over the edge of the cap. The cap is supported on a pad set in the end of the mandrel and having a surface channel for collecting any dust generated by the spin-welding operation. The welding tool is used for fitting tubing with integral adaptors or fittings or for fitting skirts to a thermoplastic closure or nozzle. Tool design avoids deposition of any weld bends or dust on the inner surface of the skirt which would otherwise require some subsequent cleaning or deflashing treatment.
