CONTROL DEVICE FOR AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
The disclosed control device for an internal combustion engine has: a means that detects an inlet temperature (t3), which is the temperature near an inlet of a purification catalyst (20) disposed in an exhaust passage (10); a means that detects a turbine temperature (t2), which is the temperature near an exhaust turbine (14) for a turbocharger (12) disposed in the exhaust passage; and a means that controls valve overlap (v), which is the state in which an intake valve and an exhaust valve in the internal combustion engine are open simultaneously. If the inlet temperature (t3) is lower than a high inlet reference temperature (T31) and the turbine temperature (t2) is higher than a high turbine reference temperature (T21), which is higher than the high inlet reference temperature, the amount of valve overlap (v) is increased to more than a hot-turbine reference amount (V0).
